We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

Loving each other requires action. Do we see? Do we see the church family in need? I attend a big church and everyone looks fine. How do I know? We probably need to listen as well. What are people saying?
Modern churches in the west are usually attended by well-dressed individuals. Perhaps we have become so used to that look that we assume all is well.
Not all is well in the souls of many, there are struggles we do not see because of image. We only find out about the struggles of others by talking to them and not staying in our usual group.
At my church, we have a large group of Nigerians who attend. These people know how to dress well yet many of them are struggling with finding work, studies and settling in our country. We don't know this by looking at them but by talking to them.
Why not talk to a stranger today and make a new friend? You might an opportunity to help someone, a brother or sister. Amen!
