The Merciful Will Be Shown Mercy

God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Matthew 5:7 NLT

This verse is just one of the beatitudes, and these are a part of Jesus' sermon on the mount. Jesus talks about the poor, seekers of justice, the humble, those who mourn, the merciful and those whose hearts are pure.

What is the opposite of merciful? Judgemental, cruel, indifferent, hard and cruel come to mind. Jesus taught, also, that we first mist rid ourselves of the plank in our own eye before trying to remove the splinter in the eyes of others. The fervour we have towards the splinters of others is overwhelming at times. I know it is for me.

We must constantly take what we see to the Lord in prayer. If we see an error, rather than setting up a critical post, why not a prayer post. Praying for others humbles us and we know from the beatitudes, the humble inherit the whole earth.
