The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 HCSB
Last night one of my nephews received the news that he failed to gain a place in a team of soccer players going to Singapore. He was devastated. However, he is only 13, and many more opportunities will present themselves. I can fully appreciate his sorrow. He had worked hard, he was a good player and did all the right things, but the timing was not right. This young man has a heart of gold, and I know God has bigger plans for him.
This story is common. We all face disappointments and grief: we didn't receive the raise; we didn't get the job; we lost our marriage, our business, our family through disaster or disease.
All of us have only one place to go, Jesus. Jesus followed the Father, and his siblings rejected Him, his friends rejected Him, even the Father turned away when He took all our sin upon Himself on the cross. Yet, He rose again in triumph. He took souls from Satan's clutches, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He is honoured because He did not turn back, He accomplished the task set for Him. We must also! Amen!
