Knocking

““Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Have you ever had trouble rousing a friend to answer the door, and had to leave disappointed. A friend of mine recently had this experience with me. The odd thing was  I was reading on my bed in the front room. She said she had rung the doorbell. I could not believe it as it had not rung, and I missed her arrival . I was embarrassed.

Is Jesus knocking, and we fail to hear Him? I watch people constantly dead to His knock. What makes us deaf? Apart from true deafness, usually preoccupation and business prevent us from hearing.

What opportunities do we miss by being deaf? What sweet fellowship do we pass up for tennis on TV, or the latest movie, or preoccupation with gaming?

Nothing beats the presence of the Lord! Why not listen for His coming? Amen!
