My prayer for you

“May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We all want to have this scripture prayed over us. This was a psalm of David. He also would have wanted this prayed over him. He begins with: in times of trouble May the Lord answer your cry. It sounds very much like what one of the apostles would pray over their disciples in a far land. Speaking of far away lands:

Yesterday I may contact with a lovely Nepali lady called Uma. I will be seeing her again this year. She has always been a delight to know. She asked that I bring her a Bible. I replied that I will have difficulty as my weight limit is 30kg and I am coming for a long time. However, if I can do it I will(this she does not know).

I imagine living in Nepal and not being able to travel outside. Knowing that God’s word is freely available in Australia, compel me to go to the poor. Uma is not poor. However, the postal system in Nepal is shocking and ordering from outside could take the longest time.God’s word is available at a Christian bookshop in Kathmandu, in Nepali. Perhaps it is the luxury of having an English bible that compels her.

Wanting people to have God’s word in their own language has compelled many Christians to become involved in translation of the bible. Perhaps I will be doing this for a group of people there, God knows best what He wants. I know the poverty and destitution of many people make them hungry to know a god who cares for them.

I am surrounded by many new Australians in my street. We have people from Africa, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. Nepalis also come if they can get a visa. The freedom and affluence Australia has is a draw card. However, godlessness is also here. Australia needs the gospel as much as any third world country, but affluence closes ears. May the Lord have mercy on us!
