Upright citizens

“Upright citizens are good for a city and make it prosper, but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This proverb is similar to 14:34, Righteousness establishes a nation but sin is a reproach to the people. However, the first drills down to us, the individuals. Did you know that as you walk with the Lord in godly behaviour you bring redemption to you Citi, your town? We cannot live as if our lives do not matter. What we do and say reflects on the kingdom of God.

Last night as I met with some fellow Christians, I was surprised by some conversation. Swear words that may be a part of the Australian culture, but not the kingdom culture, we’re being used by a present individual. He used them in anger towards intruders onto his property.

It made me consider my ways. I have a tendency to call myself and Old Fart, in jest, because I am in my 70th year. Perhaps I should reconsider. Although I had used it in fun, however, not everyone gets the joke.

Another scripture or two or come to mind:
Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, oh Lord! (psalm 19:14)
All creation groans in labour pains waiting for the revealing of the sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:21,22)

As we walk in the glory of God we bring redemption to our cities and our land.
