“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5 NLT
The Jewish bible phrases the last part as: with all your resources. Nothing is outside, all is in. This verse alone is a challenge. How to do love God with all that you are and have? What fights for this affection? Self, things, others.
What are our resources: our mental faculties, our physical strength, our spiritual self, our wealth, our health, our activities, our habits, our attitudes, our preferences, our dislikes.
This is invasive! Yes God must be in all, from the first coffee to the last drink before bedtime, from the first meal to the last snack; from the first word upon waking to the last word on sleeping; from the first thought on waking to the last thought before sleep.
Our God is all consuming! Amen!
