The body of Christ

“This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What is this? In this chapter from verse 12 to 26 Paul talks about the body of Christ being like an actual body with lesser and greater parts, hidden parts and less honourable parts. He says that God has put the body together in such a way that more care is given to the less honourable parts. This fact leads to harmony. So, we should give more care to the less honourable members of our church body.

This calls a halt to my thinking. We do tend to focus on the seen and honourable members and disregard the quiet and innocuous members. Last night at the prayer meeting there was a man who is a new Christian, he is quiet and has teeth missing, and speaks slowly. Yet, to see this man in worship is a joy. His face lights up and although he does not pray out loud, He is in worship. He is a blessing to watch.

I am aware that as I age I am becoming a less visible member of the church. I am relegated to a lesser part. That is life and I must wear it. However, I know my relationship with the Lord and how He best can use me. At the end of my life I know who I have needed to please, Him. That is all that matters. Amen!
