“Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?””

The death Jesus was speaking about here was eternal death, we will pass from this mortal coil but in eternity live with Christ. This promise keeps many of us and causes us to long to be in eternity.
Jesus was speaking to Lazarus’ sister Martha here. He subsequently raises Lazarus from the dead, as it was to show the power He had over life and death. Lazarus eventually died again and is now in his eternal home.
This claim, “I am the resurrection and the life”, was what caused trouble with the Pharisees. He was claiming to be God. This was a challenge to their religious minds and hearts. However, this same claim is our certainity. Amen!
