“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.”Proverbs 31:25-26 NLT
‘My strength is in the hope f the Lord’ (song). I know my strength has come from endurance, and choosing Jesus in all situations. No matter how bad the circumstance, He is able to save. He is ‘the glory and the lifter of my head’(song).
Today is Mother’s Day. It is not a day for selfishness on our part but a reminder of one woman who selflessly gave her son to die for us. I am also reminded of Hannah who selflessly gave up her longed for son to serve in the temple in thanks to God for His faithfulness. This would have been so hard, giving up a young son to be cared for by a drunk and his two disobedient sons. This is sacrifice indeed! Yet, Samuel turned out to be a great prophet and man of God in Israel.
Mary was warned that a sword would pierce her heart. She watched as her Son was whipped and crucified without sin. As His heart was pierced so was hers, figuratively.
My son has grown and has five children of his own and a lovely wife. Jarrod was badly mauled by a Doberman when he was a young boy. I had to go to God for comfort and assurance his life would be spared, it was. As a teenager he suffered badly with a pilonodal sinus in his lower back. He had several operations and one left an open would that had to be dressed daily. He was completing year 12 at the time. It was a trying time, but he survived.
My love and compassion goes to mums who have lost their sons to accident, disease, the brutality of others or drugs. May God’s mercy and grace sustain you today.
I remember the day I had a message that my youngest grandson had drowned. Praise God he also survived, however, receiving such news was horrendous. God was good to me in that time. He will be with you as you call on Him! Amen!
