“For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.”2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT
Godly sorrow, for me, was a result of a divine encounter with the Lord. He convicted me of my sins, this brought me to true repentance and a desire to change. Prior to this all sorrow was empty, I had no way out, I could see no release.
We have an enemy that shamed us, this is a mental experience. Whereas, conviction is in the heart. I had a problem with shame from my youth and still have to discern where it is coming from. Once recognised I can rebuke it and move on in God.
I must respond to Godly sorrow and not harden my heart, as this is deadly and will not result in life. Amen!
