“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.”1 John 4:11 NLT
How much did God love us? The previous verses tells us:
“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”
Do you acknowledge that you have a ‘sin’ problem? Or do you think this talk of ‘sin’ is out of place? I remember talking to a missionary friend in Japan. She told me that the Japanese people find that concept difficult. I think Western men and women are becoming dull to it as well. It takes a divine revelation of our sin to come to repentance. It was only such an occurrence that I came.
It is also only after a divine infilling of the Holy Spirit was I able to love as Christ loved, this also is not natural to mankind. We can love those who do good to us but apart from that others are disregarded.
So, today let us seek the Lord’s purposes. Who does He want us to love and what will that look like? Amen!
