“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”Psalms 34:8 NLT
“Have a taste”, is what we say to people when we have cooked something to share. I have been making damper in a pressure cooker and taking it to people to taste As it is not known in Nepal people are interested. However, they are not inclined to be critical, and so it is hard to discern if they like it or are being polite.
With God things are different. People are quick to say what they like. Last night I had taken my damper to share with a friend who is the house maid at a guest house, when a huge Texan man came to her asking for a meal. Whilst she cooked it I talked to the man and discovered he was not a believer. I had invited him to church. I said to him, “ah! So you have not come to know Jesus yet!” He said, “I suppose you could say that!”
I was hoping to say more however he took the stage and talked and talked. I prayed for the right words to speak and he did not make room for me. We parted with him hearing only those words. I pray they were enough.
