“All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).”Isaiah 7:14 NLT
The unusual thing about this prophesy is it was given to a wicked king who refused to believe God would deliver him from his enemies. Isaiah had gone to him with a word from the Lord, which he disbelieved, and again with this prophesy.
His displays the awesomeness of God. Not only does He speak into events now, He foretells of future glorious happenings.
“Then Isaiah said, “Listen well, you royal family of David! Isn’t it enough to exhaust human patience? Must you exhaust the patience of my God as well?”
Isaiah 7:13 NLT. He then gave the above prophesy.
I am glad God knows our weakness and inability to believe at times. He had prevailed patiently with me in the past, I am sure with all of us. God’s word to us is good, it is us who fail to hear the truth and wonder of what He is saying.
Praise God Mary heard and accepted the role of being the mother of Jesus! Praise God Joseph responded to the dreams God gave Him. May we also have ears to hear what the Lord is saying to us today. Amen!
