“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!”
Isaiah 40:3 NLT
When driving down the highway and hearing a siren we pull over to allow the emergency vehicle to pass. We have been educated to understand this behaviour.
This scripture is a similar instruction: stop, look and listen and do! How can we clear the way for the Lord? We can live connected to Him, refusing to bow to every noise that comes along. Our enemy the devil makes a lot of noise. He is demanding and insistent, he refuses to yeild unless faced with authority. The authority of a child of God who knows the scripture. Jesus had Himself been tested after 40 days and nights of fasting. He was physically weak but definitely not spiritually weak.
Our enemy comes when we are weak. He needs to meet someone who is walking in authority. We can help ourselves by training our minds and hearts to listen to the voice of our Lord. If we live intent on entertainment we have too many voices in our heads. We need to refine our focus. Amen!
