The relationship

“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”John‬ ‭14‬:‭21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When you read this scripture what strikes you? For me it is the way Jesus says it. It is not a ‘do what I say or else’ but rather a welcome to a love relationship. As I take what Jesus said to heart and make it my own, I obey it, and the result is I am in a love relationship with not only Jesus, but also the Father. Rather good!

When Jesus was teaching and his mother and family came to visit Him, but could not get through, they sent a message for Him to come. However, when the crowd told Him they were there, what did He say? He said, “Those who hear God’s words and obey them are my mother and brothers and sisters”(Luke 8:21).

At that particular point in time Jesus’ family were struggling to believe He was the Messiah. In the scripture in Luke Jesus was making the point that accepting what God said about Him carried more weight than a family relationship.

Therefore, we who accept what scripture says about Him come into relationship with not only Jesus but also the Father. Amen!
