Made right

“Sow righteousness for yourselves and reap faithful love; break up your unplowed ground. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and sends righteousness on you like the rain.”Hosea‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

This verse comes in the middle of a damming indictment against God’s people and a prophesy of destruction. Yet, it is a call to walk in righteousness, and seek the Lord for His righteousness.

We know from Romans that none are righteous, all have sinned:
“as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.”(Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭)
We, in ourselves, are not capable of righteousness. However, God had an answer:
“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!”(Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭)
Righteousness is our through Jesus, we cannot be righteous in ourselves:
“Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Since by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.”(Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬, ‭17‬ ‭)

No longer do I face destruction because of my sin, now, I am forgiven because of Jesus’ sacrifice. Breaking up my unplowed ground for me means I allow the Lord into all areas of my life. I allow Him to address my pretence at righteousness, and accept His cleansing power. Amen!
