Here is the lamb

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”John‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Here is the truth! The Pharisees claimed to have the truth, yet they did not have authority when they spoke, Jesus did.

John claimed that Jesus was the ‘lamb of God’ and that He  could take away the sins of the world, only the Messiah could do that. Jesus then began to be evaluated by sinful men who claimed to be wise.

How did and how does Jesus take away our sins? Even before the cross Jesus would say to a person, “your sins are forgiven!” This required great authority, where did He get this? Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing, therefore, the Father must have seen repentance and forgave. No one had even done this, only Jesus did this.

Can we trust this promise? Yes! He who the Son sets free is free indeed (Jn 8:36). If we are truely repentant we can trust His promise and we are forgiven. How good is this?
