“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
Paul was addressing food offered to idols in this chapter; whether to eat or not. However, in Nepal food offered during ceremonies to idols is eaten. Christians here avoid such food. Paul said, ‘if your conscience does not bother you and it causes no one to stumble, go ahead!’
As I have never been in a situation where I was required to eat such food, I have never had to make a choice. I cannot say what I would do.As non-Christians here, are mostly aware, I don’t imagine such an occasion would arise, but I may be wrong.
Today is New Year’s Eve in Nepal. The girls and I are having buff daal bhat. Buff is buffalo. We went to the local butcher shop this morning to buy the meat. I watched the butcher using the same knife for chicken and buff. Apparently that is illegal here, I thought it was unhygienic but knew we were cooking up the meat, and reasoned all bugs would be cooked. It is tasty!
