Others and pride

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I must say this is the greatest challenge! We are a selfish generation! Everything is viewed through the lense of me. Jesus spent much time teaching His disciples humility, servanthood, forgiveness, and giving. We need to be disciples in the same way. That is why we have the Holy Spirit and scripture. Our role is to craft an ear that hears and a heart that obeys. Often, I will sense a trouble-making spirit in the house. It attempts to cause fights among us. By resisting him we become closer. After all, it is our flesh that becomes annoyed, not our spirit. If we become annoyed we can recognise the areas we need to work on and yield to the Lord. Yesterday, I returned from college with red marks through some of my homework. One of my flatmates is my tutor. Initially when this happened I was miffed with my tutor. However, when I told her she humbly went to...

What is a sin?

“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” James‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ If you are to forgive, then forgive, if you are to repair a relationship, then repair it! If you are to repent of bad behaviour, repent! If you are to give and refuse, repent and give! God prompts each of us in the right way. Our Bible tells us we will hear a voice behind us saying: ‘not that way, this way!’ (Isaiah 30:21). If we are being stubborn and refusing to follow the promting of the Holy Spirit we need to repent! Repentance is a gift from God, if we continue to refuse it we may find ourselves like Esau. Scripture tells us ‘he sought repentance and could not find it’(Hebrews 12:17). God will not struggle with us forever. Then, with hardened heart we follow our flesh and not His spirit.  We need God’s spirit! He is good and leads us into all truth. Amen!

The light

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus said He was the light of the world. Do we believe this? Or is a nod all this truth gets? If Jesus is the light He brings truth to my world. His words are powerful, He sets captives free. Hebrews tells us that:  “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus cut through the darkness and the lies of our enemy. Paul tells us:  “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their ...

Giving up burdens

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬ When we have heavy burdens and someone comes along and offered to carry them, do we yield? If we know the burden is way too heavy of course we will. However, we can be convinced it is good for us to carry those burdens and foolishly carry on to our own detriment. Satan attempts to rob us of peace. He pursues us with thought about our own inadequacies and failures and condemns us. We do not need to listen. We have a saviour! When we are being attacked by our enemy it is because we are walking towards a godly victory. Don’t yield! Stand and wait to see the clouds disappear and confess God’s word over your life. Be strong! Be bold for the Lord our God is with you! (Deuteronomy 31:6).

A faithful God

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ I am grateful that my God has spoken to us through the Bible, that He has used simple people to do great things. I am grateful He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins and complete the just requirements of the law, so that we can choose to live by faith in Him. I am not required to do to earn righteousness but to live by faith in what has been bought for me. Being right with God is not about self-effort, but faith in Jesus who finished the work for me. Today I awoke to a message from a Christian friend in England saying: “I have blocked your posts about Israel as they are lies, shame on you!” My friend has judged me and found me wanting. I am sad that England believes Israel to be the villain in Gaza, however, I will still support and pray for them. As for my friend, I pray for truth ...

Making allowances

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Making allowances for faults can be challenging at times, especially during times of stress. Little things can annoy us: tidiness or untidiness; cleanliness or uncleanliness, eating habits.  Nepalis do all of these differently. In some things they go overboard and others they simply do not see. I flat with two Nepalis. Dishwashing is a big issue with them, but many other things do not rate. For me cleanliness is important. However, I must always remind myself: does this really matter in the big picture? Does the Lord care? The answer is probably not as much as I do.  Jesus took the Pharisees to task:  “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence...

Serving

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬ At times I like to watch the clips of downtown abbey. It is the story of an aristocratic family in England. They had many servants. The divide between the two classes was ever present. Never would you see them change places. However, the God of Glory did just that. He came as a lowly man child, born in a stable. He grew up in a carpenters home and obeyed His earthly parents. At the right time He entered His ministry. Never once did He Lord it over His disciples. He came to serve. He served well, even to desth on a cross. He called us, His disciples to pick up our cross and follow Him.  We serve Him and others. What others has He given you to serve? He has given me Nepalis. I am in Nepal to serve them just as Jesus would. My constant goal is to discover how to do this best. I am not on this earth to serve my fleshly appetities but to serve my Lord ...

Justice

“He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.” Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Do we really understand how much our God loves justice? Do we merely give mental assent but not embrace this truth? What else does He say about it? “You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the oppressed. You treat the righteous like dirt.” ‭‭Amos‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Hate evil and love what is good; turn your courts into true halls of justice. Perhaps even yet the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will have mercy on the remnant of his people.” Amos‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.” Amos‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ God hates presense! Either we fully embrace justice and mercy and live for Him or we pretend and live for ourselves. There is coming a day when we will stand before the king and give an account of our treatment of justice....

Hannah

“No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬ If I asked you, “who said this?” You would probably reply, “Samuel or perhaps David!” Right? Wrong! A woman said this, it was Hannah, Samuel’s mother. She prayed the following: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ God had answered her prayer for a son and she had brought him to the temple, as she promised, for him to serve in the temple. She was rejoicing and praising the Lord for answering her prayer. Hannah’s prayer for a son had been deep and heartfelt and Eli the priest saw her, and rebuked her for being drunk. However, when she explained her grief, he prayed for her and a son was born, nine months later. Hannah was a woman of faith and prayer. She produced one of the greatest priests and prophets that Israel knew.  May we been known for our pr...

Who do we fight?

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ People are motivated by the spirit world, either by the spirit of God or the spirits of darkness. When people manifest the flesh they are manifesting darkness, for darkness rules their hearts. I must recognise when offense comes and reject it, choosing rather forgiveness and prayer. Offense is a nasty spirit that controls much of the church at times. However, when we choose to worship our Lord and follow in His ways offense has little room to move. I must also recognise when I am affected by spirits of darkness. If my heart is selfish, where have I gone? If resentful, who have I been listening to? If pride is trying to gain entrance I must rebuke it. Pride is what caused Satan to fall. It is what he uses to entice God’s creation. It is subtle and wor...

Rest

“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.” Jeremiah‬ ‭31‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This verse is from a chapter dedicated to a prophesy about the rerun of the people of God to their land from all over the world. It reminds me of current Israel. Jeremiah had been asleep and dreaming. He awoke just after this verse. Jesus said these words:  “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I have to constantly remind myself, ‘you are yoked to Jesus, His burden is light!’ Yesterday I attended church and comforted the grieving refugees, a few days prior one of their group had taken his own life. I had lunch and then went to meet my translator and went to visit a biomass producer. (We are investigating industr...

Glory

“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬ What glory is this?  “For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We are God’s image bearers. As we come to realise all we are in Christ we allow that image to shine forth. It shines forth when the spirit is in control, not the flesh. The world is hungry for justice, truth and mercy. These we carry in the presence of the Hoky Spirit. His presence is the guarantee of our sonship. Allowing Him to shine is our gift to the world. Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Amen!

Completeness

“You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.” Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭114‬ ‭NLT‬‬  This verse comes from Samek, the fifteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The letter is circular representing completeness. Samekh, the fifteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, signifies  support, protection, and completeness .  Its circular shape symbolizes being surrounded and upheld, often linked to God's encompassing support in Jewish tradition.  The letter also represents the idea of leaning on something for support, like a staff or shield, and can be associated with the shepherd's influence in guiding and protecting. (Biblehub) The verse before this one  says: ‘I hate those who are double-minded, but I love Your instruction’(113) the verse after says:’depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God’s commands.’(115) It is as though the psalmist is struggling against evil doers and perhaps their influence. My struggle is against wishy-washy people who att...

Fight

“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.” Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Fighting is something I m good at, fighting for truth, faith, justice is something I am passionate about. Godly justice that sees captives set free, is the only justice worth fighting for. Selfish justice is a moot cause.  I have a short life in this world full of injustice, I must make it count for the kingdom of God. When I think of parents selling their children for sex I boil. When I see people screaming for the right to murder the unborn I rage. The innocent need my protection. Fathers wanting money just to drink make me want to get a bat and swat them. However, I know the best justice is a repentant heart before God. Robbing hell of souls is much more important.

His yoke

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.11.28-30.NLT Recently the Lord opened to me a project- to educate children and parents in Sindhulpalchok about trafficking. I was aware that telling the people about trafficking is not enough, I must help solve the poverty in the area. I brain stormed and realised the area produces much bio waste that could be utilised. I went to work to discover what could be done. I have a plan but unless it is God’s plan it will not prosper. Learning to yoke to the Lord for His rhythm is my challenge. Each day I look for ways to progress in the vision and then talk to my Christian friend who is helping with the project. We plan and pray. I have j...

His yoke

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This lesson I have learned through hard experiences. I have learned to lay down all that I thought I would do, be yoked to Jesus and walk with Him.  Today I am in Nepal. I gave up home, dog and possessions to follow my Lord into this land. Even in giving up I discovered there was more to learn. I have been stripped of my own abilities to make money, to stay healthy and maintain friends and family. I am now totally dependant on Him. On the surface you see a woman in her 70s, battling health issues, living on my government pension and praying for restoration of family relationships. However, if you spend time with me you see the fire that burns brightly in my soul and spirit. It consumes me. I refuse to be ...

Peace

“That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” John‬ ‭20‬:‭19‬, ‭21‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Mimagine the fear that the disciples were in and grief. They thought they had lost their Lord and feared that the same people who crucified their Lord would come for them. Now, here was Jesus standing in their midst telling them to not fear! The disciples had a wrong perspective of f Jesus before the cross. They thought He was going to redeem Israel and defeat the Romans. They expected to rule and reign with Him in authority and here they were in fear hiding, and the resurrected Jesus shows up and tells them not to fear. I imagine there would have been a few accelerated heart rates among them.  Jesus is saying, “I am sending you as the Father sent me!” They knew what happened to Je...

Sent

“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I have come to Nepal in order to learn the language and tell people about Jesus. Whilst I am here I am also determined to help young Nepalis from Sindhulpalchok know about trafficking and work to prevent their lives being destroyed by prostitution. In the process of telling them about the dangers I want to make a way to tell them about Jesus. He is their only safety. However, I will honour the government law against proselytism.  My church prayed me out to misssions, and when I was last there they gave an offering, for which I was grateful. However, my determination to be independent is wrong and I rob peo...

And God said…

“Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ These powerful words cut through the darkness, light came into that darkness and it was never the same again. There is power in the words of God! Jesus said to His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus knew His authority and spoke with that authority imparting Hsi authority to His disciples. We see Jesus in the gospels speaking with authority, people were healed and delivered. We have that same authority. Remember, light cuts through the darkness! Amen!

Give thanks

“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭105‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This psalm is a psalm of rememberance. It follows Abraham and his descendants to Egypt and beyond to the promised land.  We need reminding how faithful God has been to us in the past. It is good to show gratitude for all His deliverances and miracles of provision, to remember His faithfulness instead of complaining about His failure to solve a problem. Gratitude releases my heart from complaint. It changes my whole perspective about circumstances in my childhood. I no longer remember the bad done to me, but instead my heart is filled with gratitude. Speaking of God’s faithfulness brings an atmosphere of life into our current circumstances. God’s life changes things. Bring life not death! Amen!

Judgement

“Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.” Amos‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Amos is prophesying against Israel. They practised injustice and robbed to poor of justice and expected God to accept their worship. He was not impressed. This was written around 760BC. How do we Christians regard this? Is a time of judgement coming for us also? Jesu spoke several times about coming judgement. We would be wise to heed Him. What is she seeking? ““But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared ...

Slow to speak

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We each have circumstances that raise our anger. Impatience and failure to understand are key drivers. We can become so cross with the Lord over our circumstances that we become offended with Him and His ways. We can become likewise with His people. Yesterday I arose at three am to ready for a bus trip to Sindhulpalchok, northern Nepal. After a three hour journey we arrived in a major town and went to my accomodation. We were made wait, and wait. After having breakfast we went out to meet an elder of a local church where we were planning to show the Jesus movie. We then caught a taxi to a far away village where my Nepali friend had family. After meeting all the family I was shown around his land and visited a church his family had built on their land. There was no other church in the area. After walking up a very steep hill we came to the villag...

Praying in faith

“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭11‬:‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ What things do we pray for? Finance, relationships, homes, and health. We may be particularly hurt by the way we are treated by family and want to see it resolve. The interesting thing that Jesus then went on to say was:  “But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬ The day previous Jesus had cursed a fig tree and a Peter was pointing it out to Jesus, it was withered from the roots up. Why was the fig tree so important? It was a tool to teach a message. If we believe God hears us when we pray and we pray in faith will we have what we pray for.

Sharing burdens

“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This verse comes after the exhortation: “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Would you have thought that was sharing their burden? Probably not! We are not good at helping fellow believers who have fallen into sin, rather we tend to judge them and complain about them. Therefore, in this new light, how can I share another’s burden? What can I do for them? I can talk, pray and direct, give. What is the law of Christ? It is to love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus also said, “love one another as I have loved you.”(Jn 15:12) how did He love us? He gave His life for us. Amen!

Good judgement

“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.” Proverbs‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ There are parameters for the making of good judgement, it is not how I feel or what makes me happy, but rather what is right according to God’s standards. Each day and every moment of the day we face decisions. Will I do what is good for me or what is right. How will I know what is right? I must base it on God’s word. If I do not read His word then I am failing to understand His ways. Reading proverbs daily is a good start, then the gospels and getting to know Jesus and His teachings pivotal. In my flesh, all my own inklings surface and demand right of way. However, I am called to walk in the Spirit. Therefore, I must be in tune with what the Spirit says. The New Teatament tells me what the fruit of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, patience and self-control. These fruit will be evident in my life as I walk in the powe...

Who is in charge?

“So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We rarely stop to think what am I thinking and with what am I thinking? We blunder on in the flesh. Yet, this scripture is encouraging us to stop and think. Our sinful nature sees the wrong in others and our circumstances. It weighs everything on the scale of self. Whereas the spirit is far above and trusting in God alone. As Christians do we realise we can tune into God’s Spirit and allow that to rule our thoughts? Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians: “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ If this is true He is right here with us, fills all things with His presence, we just have to tune in. What is the Spirit saying to you right now? What is God saying through Him? Why not tune in! Amen!

Don’t worry

““So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭34‬ ‭NLT‬‬ In this chapter Jesus deals with money, the Lord’s Prayer, forgiveness, fasting and giving and anxiety. If we consider all that the chapter entails we gain a correct focus. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬ As we seek God for finance, and relationships, we see Him go to work, as we practice forgiveness we see miracles unfold. Do I have enough for today? If ‘yes’ then be grateful, if ‘no’ then pray. The verse ‘give us this day our daily bread’ comes to mind. All I need for today is in your hands Lord! Amen!

Liberty

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ When the Spirit of the Lord enters our lives He sets us free from all manner of bondages, illnesses, fobias. Choosing to invite Him in is the single best thing we can do for ourselves. Verse 16 talks about the veil that is over our mind before Christ and verse 18 tell us the glorious freedom we receive: “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We are being changed into the image of the Lord. Think about that! Little old me am being changed into the likeness of God.  Now we know that we were made in His image because He tells us that in Genesis: ‘let us make man in our own image and likeness’ (Genesis 1:26). If we were made in His image then why are we being transformed into His ima...

Believe

“Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” John‬ ‭20‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus said these words to Thomas, who refused to believe that Jesus had risen from the dead unless he saw Him in the flesh, and put his hands into the wounds that Jesus had suffered. These words speak to us who have come along way after the resurrection and ascension into heaven. We believe because He first loved us. He drew us to Himself. The first thing I had to do when He drew me was to repent of all my sin, which was ever before me, then I asked Him into my heart. The result was joy unspeakable. I had never known such joy! Unbelief carries such misery! Belief carries joy! Make the change today! Amen!

Taste and see

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ In summer in Nepal we enjoy tucking into jackfruit. It’s ugly exterior does not look inviting but inside is a succulent feast. When you read this scripture all your previous experiences with the church come to mind and if they were very bad, you will baulk and turn away. However, finding a relationship with Jesus makes life so much better that all religious nonsense pales and disappears. I was raised a Catholic and attended the church regularly. Unfortunately, I did not find Jesus there. I sought Him desperately there but to no avail. I found Him in my bedroom with a friend praying for me. That friend sought the Lord about where to take me and He directed her to a pentecostal church she had been attending. I flourished there. The result of me seeking the Lord was well rewarded. I was baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is my constant companion. I can readil...

The Son

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.” 1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬ When someone sends an expensive gift we tend to be in awe. When someone sends a baby called The Son of God we are perplexed. Why did God send a baby and not a man? Jesus was helpless and dependant for several years, He did not do any ministry until he was 30. I cannot explain why God chose to send a baby instead of a man. However, I am grateful He did. He trusted Mary and Joseph with His Son. I am grateful that in sending Him His angels appeared to shepherds, the lowest of low. I am grateful for the glimpse of Him we see at 12 in the temple. I am sure Mary could have written a book, perhaps she did, we do not know. Jesus will rerun again, as a man, the King to rule the earth. Then the earth will see His power and glory. Then it will know His justice and judgement. However, Jesus’ first coming displayed His humility and servant hood. He ...
