“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”Proverbs 9:10 NLT
There are parameters for the making of good judgement, it is not how I feel or what makes me happy, but rather what is right according to God’s standards.
Each day and every moment of the day we face decisions. Will I do what is good for me or what is right. How will I know what is right? I must base it on God’s word. If I do not read His word then I am failing to understand His ways. Reading proverbs daily is a good start, then the gospels and getting to know Jesus and His teachings pivotal.
In my flesh, all my own inklings surface and demand right of way. However, I am called to walk in the Spirit. Therefore, I must be in tune with what the Spirit says. The New Teatament tells me what the fruit of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, patience and self-control. These fruit will be evident in my life as I walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.
If I see: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,”(Galatians 5:19-20 NLT) then I know I am in the flesh.
I must accept the reality of my behaviour and adjust it to follow Christ or I am lost. Thinking I am safe because I asked Jesus to be my saviour is not enough. I must make Him Lord. Amen!
