The earth is the Lord’s

“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;”  Psalms‬ ‭24‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬ No matter who stomps and plans or claims authority, the fact is: the earth is the Lord’s, He created it. In Luke 4:6 Satan is tempting Jesus offering Him all authority over the world if He, Jesus, would worship him (Satan). Jesus rebukes Satan and tells him only the Lord would He worship. Satan is a rebel and usurper of authority. Little did he know that Jesus would win back the authority by His desth on the cross. Jesus said, in Matthew 28:18: “all authority has been given to Me!”  However, Satan continues to be the god of this age. As mankind continues in sin Satan rules their hearts and minds. ( 2 Cor 4:4) Therefore, ultimate authority belongs to Jesus, the earth belongs to the Lord. We can trust in this. As we use kingsom of God authority we take ground from Satan. We do this in prayer and godly living. Stand your ground and pray! Amen!

How to remain sharp

“For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.”  Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ A few months ago I saw a little man out the front of my flat with a bicycle wheel and pedals with which he use to create a sharpening tool for knives and scissors. My landlady was there getting knives sharpened. I rejoiced as my best knife was becoming blunt. For 50R it was transformed. I was very grateful and thanked the man. His face lit up with the best smile. This reminds me that I must stay sharp as a Christian. I do so by seeing others as a Jesus sees them and car...

Love

“Love does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This is a test of love. Do we rejoice when someone is jailed, chastened or vilified unjustly? If we do we have a forgiveness problem. If that person has been rough on us and then is treated unjustly we still have no grounds to rejoice. Paul tells us the attributes of true love, God’s love are:  “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”  1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭5‬, ‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Loves continues to pray for people who hurt us. Love seeks the best for all people. When Jesus hung on the cross He said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!” He welcomed the repentant thief into paradise with Him that very day. We tend to think about...

Escape

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.”  Psalms‬ ‭68‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬ I just awoke from a dream in which my mother and aunts and many others were in a small buss stopped by the side of the road on a mountain. Opposite us was a truck stopped on the road. I was outside the bus and heard a large truck powering up the hill at speed. I knew we were in danger and pressed myself against the side of the mountain and prayed. The on-coming truck slowed a little but pushed and pushed until it could get past, pushing the stopped truck onto our bus. Without thinking I pushed against it to get it off our bus and it moved. I checked everyone inside and all was well. I then ran off to collect my sister’s cats who had escaped in the first place and brought them back. I felt full of energy and excited that I had saved us from the truck. Not realistic! I could not save us, my prayers to the ...

All things work together

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬ We are not always in the right place at the right time, however, God is able to use everything. Tonight I went with my flatmates to a craft evening and realised I did not fit. I sensed my awkwardness and the hosts preference. I sat quietly and rolled wool and talked minimally. I did try to help one young woman with crocheting but was unsuccessful.  My flatmates had insisted I go along and in evenings past I had refused. However, I connected with two young women I knew. They were delighted to see me. I had been to their hometown way north west of Nepal and that had made a memorable connection. As well, I had celebrated one girls birthday by making her a birthday cake earlier in the year. Although I felt awkward being where I did not belong, I am grateful for that connection. I now know their mother is unwell and will...

Bread of life

“Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”  John‬ ‭6‬:‭35‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Jesus said these words to the Jews who were following him because He fed them bread and fish when they were hungry. He told them they were only following Him because He fed them. He was looking for those the Father had given Him who would believe in Him. Here in this verse He is responding to the request for bread from heaven so that the crowd would never be hungry again. They were thinking natural provision He was speaking spiritual provision. Each of us has a hunger for a connection with God. We fill it with all manner of things, we create our own gods but the hunger never leaves us. The only solution is Jesus. He is the answer. We cannot make ourselves right by our own actions. We need a pure and perfect sacrifice and that sacrifice is Jesus. He gave Himself to pay for our debts, our sins. Jesus is the only God motivated b...

Making allowances

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This calls for a generous heart. We cannot afford to be petty. Mean spirits are selfish and will destroy those who get in our way. Jesus taught forgiveness. When asked how many times should a person forgive a brother who sins against them, thinking seven was generous, Jesus replied, “70 times seven!” The listeners were gobsmacked. 70 times 7 was a way of saying ‘forever!’ Finding fault gives us an excuse to dismiss a person. If we do not want them around it is how we dismiss, we accumulate faults against them. In Nepal foreigners are losing favour. Finding fault against them is the way to dismiss and deport them. It does not matter that foreigners are some of the best supporters and donators to Nepal, because many foreigners are Christians they are unwanted. As a Christian that loves Nepal and her people I am sad. Nepal ...

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ If God says it, it is true! All nations are coming to know Him. As God He is in charge. No one can stop Him! People may be stopped and forbidden to speak about Him but He speaks in dreams and visions. He reveals Himself, He is God! We, as humans, cannot stop the Almighty God. He will have His way! He is King, ruler over all, whether people acknowledge Him or not. To every one a day comes when we stand before Him and He will be our judge. We are eternal beings, we have a spirit and soul that cannot die. We choose where we spend eternity: in the lake of fire or in heaven. There are no alternatives. Faith in Jesus a Christ allows us to eneter heaven. Hatred of Him and His people guarantee us the lake of fire. We choose!

Spiritual security

““Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the LORD And whose hope and confident expectation is the LORD.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭AMP‬‬ I must rely on the Lord, for He is taking me in dangerous waters. I have never been here before, but He has. Yesterday I travelled to a place called Hetauda to look at land and property that can be used to create what God has put on my heart to do. It was challenging, the manager of the property did not want foreigners doing what I believe I am called to do. Yet, the property there is exactly what is needed. I need wisdom and favour! Divine favour! Only God can give what I need. We had a Nepali driver take us, he was ex-army. I sensed he carried grief like a burden. I had my young colleague talk to him about it while I prayed. He did and now I trust what he said was enough. The road to this place was tortuous. I reasoned that it would be too difficult to have a business in Hetauda and live in Kathmandu. Howev...

Children

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ I am a living testimony to this verse. As a young child I had an encounter with the Lord and grew up hungry to know Him. I have a passion to know Him more and love Him as He loves me. When my children were small I taught them to pray, to love the Lord and to come to Him. I must trust that these lessons stayed with them. Jesus is the best friend our children can have. His Holy Spirit is the best spirit for them to know. In all teh books ever written about powers and authorities, none is better than the gospels about Jesus. He walked in divine power and authority. Love your children enough to impart Jesus! Amen!

Doing good

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”  Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ People will annoy us and cause us to withdraw a pace. What would God have us do? Remembering we are sowing. What harvest do we want? “Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.”  1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬ What does Paul say about the weak? Cast them off? No! Take tender care of those who are weak, in fact be patient with everyone. This is hard for me. People who are older in the Lord, I expect them to be strong in faith. However, many are not. I have to be tough on myself to walk in faith. You might say, “she is a tough old bird!” I am but I am counselled by Paul to be patient and ki...

Jesus’ purpose

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ These are the words of our saviour. He tells us there is a thief, his name is Satan. If you have become dull to spiritual truths and believe there is no such being you are misguided. If the Son of God says the thief is real you better believe it. Better than the thief is Jesus who says He has come to give us a rich and abundant life. He is not talking about worldly riches He is talking about the life you can know when He is at the centre. He is our peace in any storm, He is our way in dark valleys, He is our life when death attempts to consume us. When Jesus is at the centre He goes before us and gives us the ride of our lives. He is a constant adventure. I just listened to a testimony from a young Christian woman who is Japanese and who the Lord led to open a restaurant in the area recently destroyed by catastrophic flood in Nepal. She cooked for the ...

Thinking good thoughts

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I just awoke after a not so good dream about my son-in-law. I will not dwell upon it but rather pray for him. He has been a good husband to my daughter and a good father to their children. He is a clever salesman in his field of work and I honour him in all these endeavours. Today I received word that I will receive an unexpected financial payment for my support given to a Pakistani refugee here in Nepal. I am blessed and grateful. It will be used in the next venture. However, these are both worldly things and cannot consume my mental energy. I must put the Lord’s plans before me. He is more concerned about souls. I am learning to love the lowly and be available to pray and support them. Paul goes on to encourage the Philippians to follow his exam...

Confess your sins or?

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”  James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ It is good to be honest and transparent. We are not very capable at this. We hide and justify, pretend that it was the other person’s fault. The stories that exist in our heads are all pantomimes. The only alternative to confession of sin is righteousness. Not my own but living in the work Jesus has done for and in me. If you don’t want to confess sin, don’t sin! If we struggle with confessing we can pray for the Holy Spirit to help. ‘Lord please orchestrate a place and time for me to confess’. Last Sunday I was sorely offended by the wimpish behaviour of a friend. I was so tempted to gossip, but went to the Lord and sprayed it out to Him. Another person was vindictive about how and when we should pray. It came from a religious spirit. It also upset me, but again I went to the Lord. I pr...

God’s Plans

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This is a part of God’s word to His people after they had been exiled in Babylon. He said they would be there 70 years and then He would return them to their own land. This is God’s word to me today in 2026. I must trust Him and His word. If He says He will do something, He will do it! Amen! I am seeking the Lord for the way forward to the plan He has given me. I need His wisdom, provision and guidance. I will continue in prayer until I see the next step. His ways are best! Amen!

Give your burdens

“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”  Psalms‬ ‭55‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This verse is sandwiched between a lament about the betrayal by a trusted friend and a statement about the outcome for that treachery. We are not told the circumstances around the betray but if we look at David’s life portrayed in 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 Kings, we see betrayal at the hands of his son Absalom, and Ahithophel, or it could have been anyone else whom David trusted. It is hard to imagine that David wished his son to hell when he was so devastated at his death. We all face betrayal at some time. We expect a friend to cover us and keep our confidences, and they don’t. Often there is a hidden motive. A self-preservation or greed or even offense. Our God is the only faithful one. He keeps our confidences. He looks out for us and covers us. If we take our grievances to Him He goes before us. He solves all. Others will face Him! His vengeance is...

Mercy

“But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, expecting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. Have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; have mercy on others but with fear, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.” ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬-‭23‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ Jude was a brother of Jesus. He has spent that last 16 verses speaking against false believers, their attitudes and behaviours. Now he encourages the true believers. Do you make time for those who doubt and are weak in faith? Do you find their moaning difficult? Do you find their self-preoccupation challenging? Then have mercy! Don’t criticise or judge.  We need to rescue these! Challenge their faith by all means but do it in love. To do this we must spend time with the Lord and be charged up in faith. Amen!

Clean

“Keep creating in me a clean heart. Fill me with pure thoughts and holy desires, ready to please you.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬ ‭TPT‬‬ I am grateful that the Lord has given me a new heart, a heart that wants to please Him. I am grateful He has given me His Holy Spirit within that instructs me and guides me. However, I cannot take Holy Spirit for granted but honour and treat Him with respect. It is Him I must please, not myself. As I come to prayer with gratitude for His goodness and His purpose for this day I am blessed with an awareness of Him. He is good! Thank you Holy Spirit for your presence. You are my holiness, my goodness, my righteousness. Thank You for Your direction today. Lead me and guide me as to how to please you today. Amen!

The Sabbath

““Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”  Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ There are some Christians who believe they should respect the Sabbath, while others do not. What is the truth? When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He replied: ‘to love the Lord your God with your whole heart, soul and mind, and there was another like it, love your neighbour as yourself’.  He was often accused of breaking the Savbath, according to religious traditions. What did the apostles teach? Hebrews talks about another rest, that rest is found in Christ (Hebrews 4:9-10). Paul admonished the Galatians for trying to earn points by observing special days (Gal 4:9-11) and he also dealt with this in his epistle to the Colossians 2:16-17. So what should we do on Sunday? Remember the Lord and gather to celebrate Him. Christ is our rest! Amen! Sunday is a day when I go to church and spend time with friends to eat and relax.

Like Jesus

“This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.” 1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬ I have to remind myself, always, to live in God’s love for me. As I abide in Him I love. If I am not abiding I do not love, I tolerate. Toleration comes to an end and then I become nasty. I speak unkindly. I am not representing Jesus but rather my flesh. I, daily read an excerpt from Watchman Née, a Chinese minister who spent most of his life in prison. He had a deep understanding of the scripture and what it meant to be a Christian. He talked about living out of the light inside. I liken this to having the Lord’s compassion and loving from that. The light he talked about was the illumination that the Lord gives. We are called to be lights. However, if we do not abide in Him our flesh is in control and there is not light within us. As I fellowship with the Holy Spirit within He shows me the Way of Jesus, as I allow Him to pray thr...

Waging war

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”  2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I have been presented with a problem. Unknown to me my colleague invited along his father to Sindhulpalchok. His father has a drinking problem. The area we are in has a problem with alcoholism. I am seeking to minister into that problem and have been, it seems, compromised. If that was not bad enough my colleague took his father with him to the school we are running a program on trafficking. When he showed me the vidoe of the classroom and I saw his father sitting in the classroom I was horrified.  It seems I have a decision to make. I spoke to my colleague in private and told him it was never to happen again. He agreed! However...
