Give your burdens
“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalms 55:22 NLT
This verse is sandwiched between a lament about the betrayal by a trusted friend and a statement about the outcome for that treachery.
We are not told the circumstances around the betray but if we look at David’s life portrayed in 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 Kings, we see betrayal at the hands of his son Absalom, and Ahithophel, or it could have been anyone else whom David trusted. It is hard to imagine that David wished his son to hell when he was so devastated at his death.
We all face betrayal at some time. We expect a friend to cover us and keep our confidences, and they don’t. Often there is a hidden motive. A self-preservation or greed or even offense.
Our God is the only faithful one. He keeps our confidences. He looks out for us and covers us. If we take our grievances to Him He goes before us. He solves all.
Others will face Him! His vengeance is to be feared. David left his grief in the hands of the Lord and He delivered him.
My strength is in the name of the Lord who made heaven earth! Amen!
