“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”James 5:16 NLT
We live in a day where acknowledgement of sin is s hurdle. What me?? Sin??? Yes we do sin! Every time we open our mouths we have the potential to sin. As James tells us:
“And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.”James 3:6 NLT
The word for tongue in Nepali is ‘jibro’. It reminds me of jibber, and jibber reminds me of chatter. We do like to chatter. I have a friend who chatters at speed. However, just because I do not chatter at speed does not absolve me from hurtful comments. On Sunday I happened to say to her husband, ‘ next week you can have a turn to speak!’ At the time I thought that comment was innocuous, however, it was a barb. I found the chatter overbearing, in my ‘humble’ opinion, of course.
Lately the Lord has shown me the source of the barbs and annoyance. I find critical thoughts in my head a lot and if I act on them they become hurtful. I am learning to refuse to speak them and tell the thoughts where to go.
May I be an instrument of healing and worship!
