Intimacy

“So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.” John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Intimacy mean face to face connection. This is very close. How close am I? If my own thoughts are causing me to be touchy then not close enough.

How easy it is to walk our own path in our own understanding of truth. Yesterday, I had this brought home to me. I was challenged with opposition to having my young male colleague share the same flat with me in Sindhulpalchok. This boy is younger than my son and looks upon me as a mother. Yet, as my friend pointed out, the local perception is important. Fortunately, his family (aunts, uncles and cousins) live just over the hill.

Another thing happened yesterday. My best friend has been barred from Nepal for 12 months all because she overstayed her tourist visa by one day. This is a heavy price for her. However, we trust the Lord to guide her. I can see that He is freeing her up from the need to keep so many people financially. It made me very much aware of how tenuous our time is here. I realise I could be caught just as well.

Nepal needs to stand on its own feet and so do many ministries. Us foreigners are carrying many and not allowing them to find their own legs.

Father please guide me this year and prepare me for Your changes that You have in store for me. Amen!
