As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples and said,"Take and eat; this is my body. Then He took the cup, and after giving thanks, He gave it to them and said, "Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:26,27
The making of a covenant was normally accompanied by an act of sacrifice. The slaughter of the animal signified the consequences that would befall anyone who broke the covenant. The old covenant was sealed by such a sacrifice (Ex 24:8) and now, Jesus' sacrifice enacted the new covenant that had been promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 (...... this is the covenant I will make with them..... I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.)
Accepting Christ into my life I have had the hand of God write His ways on my heart. The struggle is gone. Before I had invited Him in there was a struggle to know Him and to obey Him. As I walk in Him now the struggle is gone. It is now all about surrender to grace given.
There is no longer a need for sacrifice, I cannot compete with the best there was, I do not have to better Him, merely surrender and accept Him.
At times I may struggle to know the way but as I surrender He shows the way. It is already there before me I just can't see it.
