“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”John 1:12 NLT
As an Australian I have the right to vote, to live freely, I have access to health care and protection under the law. As an Australian in Nepal I have access to Australian protection through our Australian embassy as long as I am not dishonouring the country.
For many years now we have watched a man Julienne Asage be denied protection of his home country because of what he has done in leaking government secrets to the world stage. At present our government is looking to create tougher laws for those who leak government material. Governments do not like to be exposed. They do not like the cry, “The king has no clothes on!”
As a child of God I am welcome into God’s family. I am the right to walk into my Father in prayer, rights to the authority given to believers, access to the heart of Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit who confirms I am a child of God. However, as each family has rules, so does the family of God, the main rules are, “love God first and you brother and sister like you love yourself.” Out of these laws flows protection of the rights of others, honour for leaders, justice for the poor, equity for all and above all love produces the fruits of the spirit. Patience, goodness and kindness flow as we walk in self-control and humility.
Even the Jews were considered God’s people as they:
Did justice and mercy and walked humbly with their God ( Micah 6:8). Believing in the work that Jesus did for them on the cross makes them doubly blessed. Jesus is the corner stone, the benchmark the way. The law was showing the way to a perfect redeemer, Jesus. The law could not set us free from sin, only Jesus could do that! Amen!
