“But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.”
Psalms 56:3 NLT
Anxious thoughts are fearful thoughts. When our minds are preoccupied with fearful thoughts we are kept from enjoying the freedom Jesus bought for us.
Anxiety is like a film that rolls around and around and keeps our eyes on problems, potential problems and past problems. They keep us away from freedom.
What to do? “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Peter is on point here. He knows first hand that what he is saying is correct. He saw Jesus heal his mother-in-law, he had Jesus rescue him on the stormy sea, he had Jesus forgive him for denying him at a crucial time and then he walked in the power of the promised Holy Spirit.
Jesus does care! He is waiting for us to give Him our burdens and prayers for divine intervention. Last night my flatmates and I had a time of beautiful worship, the presence of God fell. I asked them what was the Holy Spirit saying to them and they both said He was talking about their anxieties. Being free mentally to enjoy the Holy Spirit’s presence is sweet, divine and most refreshing.
Today I go to the university to investigate if I can enroll in an art course as I began one 20 years ago and would like to complete it. It will also give me a year long visa. I have been told that the university is a a state of political unrest. This could be unsettling unless God is in the move. I will allow Him to go before me and show me the way. Through art I see unlimited ideas and am looking forward to that. Releasing the creative in me is an enjoyable place to be. Amen!
