Treasure

for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also...... sell what you possess and give to the poor Luke 12:33,34
These verses challenge me. What do I sell and give? What do I keep? I didn't think I had a lot of clothes until someone said to me 'You have a lot of clothes don't you?' I thought I had a lot of odds and ends, amazing what perspective we have.
I personally do not like to collect stuff because then I have to insure it against thieves, I also don't like clutter. Yet I do have plenty, all I need and perhaps more than I need.
I prefer to invest in people and relationships. I don't think of buying them stuff but giving them time. I have an abundance of love, I am practical and can solve many things, I love to serve.
Yet what is my Lord saying? What can I do? How can I help the poor? I don't think of them much unless they are in my face. I know more people who are poor in spirit than in possessions.
As we face the getting season what will we do for those who lack? What does my Lord want of me? Lord open my eyes to the poor. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
