Doing our duty

When you have done everything that was assigned to you to do, say 'we are unworthy servants we have done what was merely our duty to do.' Luke 17:10
Every one in a while our church will give awards to various people in the congregation because they have served well. Sometimes, if I am honest, I would like to be one of those people. Yet, really why do I need the praise of men when my God has a greater reward and why do I expect a reward when my God says that if you are merely doing what you are called to do, why do you expect to be honoured.
Last night was the final session of DivorceCare and the group honoured me, partly because it was my birthday and partly as they were grateful for the love shown them. I am deeply honoured to have been able to work with the Holy Spirit and see people change. The gospel had been preached and the call for salvation made.
What the participants do not know or recognise is that the Holy Spirit was there, He has been wooing them, touching their lives I just had to be the face and the servant, I gave Him room and He took it. His presence was so patently obvious, to me. He has touched lives and set them free, filled them with His truth. He is so good.
I am also grateful to my team who supported me and loved on the lost. Thank you Lord! Amen!
