Losing Respect!
Being respected is more important than having great riches. To be well thought of is better than silver or gold.
The wise see danger ahead and avoid it, but fools keep going and get into trouble. Prov 22:1,3
I have just had a good friend confess being caught in a situation that has lost her leadership and respect. 'But it wasn't my fault' was her plea.
I have pondered all day how she could say that. What lead up to the fall? what didn't she see? what didn't I see? why didn't she tell me, her closest friend until she was found out?
I know there is grief in the spirit. I have declared my friendship but at the same time challenged her thinking. Something precious has been lost, pain has been caused, her daughter will be affected, greatly.
The above scripture says 'the wise see danger ahead'. Did she see it and ignore it? The opposite of wisdom is foolishness. We are foolish when we do not keep watch, listen to wise counsel, keep a short account with the Lord.
I have been foolish at times and my God has protected me, for which I am grateful, why did He not protect her? What was lacking?
I could say being respected is better than yielding our integrity to anyone.
Have mercy Lord! Amen!
