Forgiveness

Blessed are the merciful for they shall be shown mercy. Matt5:7
When those close to us mistreat us and betray us it is hard to be merciful, yet being merciful brings a benefit to the giver, it releases and protects.
I have experienced bitter disappointment but sitting in it rots my bones, I must move past it.
I value my health too much to allow anger, bitterness and rage rule, I must forgive.
In the Lord's prayer we see 'forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.' forgiveness is a cleansing stream, it is completely dropping from a great height the offense.
We can know we have truly forgiven when we are totally free from it, a stream of living water courses through our spirit.
As we come to Easter we hear Jesus pray 'Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.' Have you been crucified today? then forgive. Amen!
