Life

1 Peter 3:10-12 (MSG) Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here's what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you're worth.
Do we really believe this? If so why all the potions, elixirs that promise new life?
Keeping a clean heart is work, guarding our heart is work, curbing our tongue is impossible without help.
So what are the steps? :
  • Say nothing evil or hurtful
  • snub evil
  • cultivate good
  • run after peace

Say nothing evil. Let's stop there! easier said than done, oh how we react at times. I praise God for Christ, if we ask for His power then we have it and our hearts become a beautiful garden instead of a den of snakes.

Say nothing hurtful. There are times we will have to hurt by our words if we confront but this is talking about careless words. Words that flow out in a party spirit.

Snub evil. This is easy to do after we have done the above otherwise we are on the enemy's side and are carried along with his rubbish. A heart that is controlled by the discipline of the Lord will shun evil.

Cultivate good. Now we move on to God stuff. Because we have successfully dealt with the enemy we have a clean heart and are anxious to cultivate good stuff.

Our hearts are cultivators and we must choose what we cultivate. If we go along with the flow then we will cultivate evil and reap a harvest of dead, rotten, fruit.

Conversely if we cultivate good we reap a harvest of righteousness. Amen!

But wait, there is more. Run after peace. Wow! we are on a roll. Run means movement, pain to gain. Run means effort but if righteousness is already there in our hearts it empowers us to run.

An atmosphere of peace is a real delight, it blesses all who come near, enables the Holy spirit to minister.

...And the result is....... a good life. Amen!!!!
