Salvation
Jonah 2:6 (AMP) I went down to the bottoms and the very roots of the mountains; the earth with its bars closed behind me forever. Yet You have brought up my life from the pit and corruption, O Lord my God.
Jonah loved the Lord and His righteousness and hated lawlessness to the point he wanted to see those who practiced lawlessness to get their 'just desserts' and perish.
In Jonah Chapter 2 I see the love Jonah has for the Lord yet he was about to learn to love what the Lord loved, the unseemly, the unjust, the violent.
To teach Jonah to follow, the Lord had him in the belly of a whale for three days. How different he was to Jesus who did see and did submit. His time in the belly of the earth was preaching salvation to those in Paradise and taking them home.
The book of Jonah shows me the heart of compassion the Lord has for the lost. I have been reading the books leading up to Jonah and they are full of God teaching His people a lesson. There is anger and vengeance.
I love lost people, I believe today I will meet more of them. Last night I heard about a man I have not seem for many years, say 34 years. He and his wife live in Albury. He is back-slidden and his wife continues to go to church. This man loves art and last night I taught one of his best friend to paint.
My God is so good, not only was the one I taught to paint lost and the Lord is wooing but here comes another. Yes!!!!
