Matthew 23:9 (MSG) Don't set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of 'Father'; you have only one Father, and he's in heaven.
Laziness, fear, insecurity, immaturity are all things that will cause us to lay down our responsibility and allow others to rule us.
God wanted to be His people's ruler but they wanted a king. They did not want to go to him for the answers, He either scared them or was way too holy for them.
Today when I sense someone wants me to make a decision for them, I refuse. I don't need the responsibility or the glory (false though it is).
When we are fearful because something has happened to cause us to doubt ourselves or the path we are on we have to remember to stay fast to the path, if indeed it is one which has been thoroughly thought and prayed through.
I remember a saying I have heard in the past 'when in doubt don't'. Don't waver, don't turn aside, stay focused, keep your eyes on the goal and trust God for the rest.
God is our strenght, our wisdom, our steadfastness, he is God.
Again and again I have found that all that has happened is a test and all I have to do is stay fast to the goal.
The prize is at the end of the road, it is waiting. Amen!
