Genesis 26:24 (MSG) That very night God appeared to him and said, I am the God of Abraham your father; don't fear a thing because I'm with you. I'll bless you and make your children flourish because of Abraham my servant.
Isaac did not have the same relationship with God that his father had. He was blessed because of his father.
I want to be blessed because of my relationship with my God. A good relationship with the Lord cannot be handed down, it has to be developed personally.
What is unique about my relationship with the Lord that my 'spiritual fathers' do not have?
My own relationship must be forged out of a heart for the Lord and knowing Him for myself. I long to know what he is saying to me personally.
I want to walk where He is taking me, not just walking over places where my fathers have gone, even though they are good.
I want to know Him, uniquely for myself. I want to fellowship Him in our own way. I want to hear His voice and have Him visit me in a way that is ours and no one else's.
I want to build upon what my fathers have done, take those who come behind to a different level.
My fathers lay the foundation but I must build what I have been given to build. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
