Creative Survival
Luke 16:8-9 (MSG) "Now here's a surprise: The master praised the crooked manager! And why? Because he knew how to look after himself. Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way—but for what is right—using every adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you'll live, really live, and not complacently just get by on good behavior."
I know streetwise people. They constantly twist and turn to make things fit. They have no conscience in what they do.
Yet here I am being told to be streetwise but not twist but use adversity to stimulate me to creative survival.
The challenge as Christians is to not become alley-cat because of adversity and lash out at anyone and everything but to allow our experience to humble us before God as we seek Him.
As I seek my God through the pain I become a better individual and more determined in my push forward, He gives me creative ideas, fresh approaches. I am in the right place at the right time with Him.
The challenge for me as a child of God is to stay a child of God and not get caught up in the method of survival. I don't want to lose His presence and fellowship. He is too important to me and yet also not to be complacent is of utmost importance.
I hear too often 'it was meant to be'. Phooey! The word tells me what is meant to be not my circumstances!
