The Power of Grace

John 13:3-5 (GW) 3 The Father had put everything in Jesus' control. Jesus knew that. He also knew that he had come from God and was going back to God. 4 So he got up from the table, removed his outer clothes, took a towel, and tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and dry them with the towel that he had tied around his waist.

What an interesting run of scripture. It tells us:

  1. What the Father had done -He had put everything in Jesus' control
  2. What Jesus Knew - He had come from God and was going back to God
  3. SO - He did something so unusual
  4. THEN - He performed an act of service

Grace acts in spite of pain, in spite of power, in spite of sin.

Grace gives power, grace breaks bonds, grace heals, grace purifies, grace is all there really is worth keeping.

Jesus knew who would betray him, but he washed His betrayer's feet as well.

Have mercy Lord! That I might know such grace. Amen!
