Give Up

Acts 16:31 (AMP) And they answered, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ [give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping] and you will be saved
I have know the Lord for many years, since I was 19. I have read Acts many times but have never seen the above scripture fully.
' Take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself up to Him'. It could not be any plainer than this. 'Take yourself out of your own keeping', but we keep doing this don't we? Why if it is to be it is up to me, right? wrong!
When things go wrong and we doubt the course we are on, instantly we are surrounded by those who say 'you have to do this or that'.
I am going to do this, I am going here or there, doesn't scripture speak to this? 'How do you know oh man where you will be tomorrow? Is it not better to say if the Lord allows I will go here or there.' Something to that effect.
Recently I had such a happening. After much devastation at my current work I was advised to look again. I did. I applied and was refused.
It is as if I am nailed to a certain place and that is where I will stay until the Lord permits me to move.
Against all common sense I am unable to make things happen. They happen when the Lord knows they need to happen and no amount of struggle, sweat or worry changes things. He constantly provides for me and is teaching me to walk in that provision only.
He alone is GOD! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
