Joy of Giving

1 Chronicles 29:3 (AMP) Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God,....
1 Chronicles 29:9 (AMP) Then the people rejoiced because these had given willingly, for with a whole and blameless heart they had offered freely to the Lord.
King David wanted to build the Lord a house but God prevented him, so he did what he could, he gave out of his treasure to build.
David's generosity inspired the congregation and they gave. The giving made them glad.
Giving blesses me. Yesterday I freely gave time and energy to make a couple's wedding a blessing. I enjoyed it. I bought food and decorated and created an atmosphere that blessed.
Last night I was blessed. I was reimbursed for what I had spent and more beside. This in turn inspired me to give further, I have offered one of my paintings.
Giving opens our hearts and joy comes, I am sure than scientifically we release endorphins, this can only be good for us.
When we freely give we experience release, blessing. We must freely give to be blessed. Giving under compulsion brings bondage and resentment.
Praise God for giving. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
