Does God hear this sort of prayer? Yes from the man who wrote it. He had spent his life in a relationship with the Lord.
In the movie 'Eat, Pray, Love', Julia Roberts realised she did not like her life and in desperation knelt on her bathroom floor and prayed for the first time, she wanted out of her marriage, she did not want to know God she just wanted Him to fix something. Nothing happened.
When I was 19 I realised my life was a mess, I was in a relationship I did not like but more than that I knew I was desperate for a knowledge of God inside, I wanted to be clean inside, I prayed and struggled for several hours, then God spoke to me.
It is not enough to want to be out of circumstances we do not like, it is important that we know we need to be clean inside and want a relationship with the only one who can clean us up.
God is not a grocery store or more still a tradesman that you call with a list of things you want done. If you have someone wanting you in their life and they just rock up and say I want you get in my car, what sort of poor self image would you need to go along with them?
God is totally happy with Himself but would like a relationship with us more because He is pure love, not because He is desperate. if I really want Him and show that I am hungry for His presence in my life, He will show up.
However, just like any, totally together person, He is unwilling to play second fiddle, to be an after thought or a jar of ointment you bring out only when needed.
You want Him, show it!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
