Broken Hearts

Psalms 34:18 (MSG) If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there; if you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath.
Yesterday I met a man who is struggling, he had been handled roughly by church leadership.
This man had moved from another state to be here because he believed the word of the pastor. The pastor gave his word too quickly and did not glean enough information.
When the rubber hit the road the man and the pastor parted and the man left the church. He is all alone in a foreign place without support.
This happens too often because innocent believers think 'he's the pastor, he is wise, he must be right.' Wrong! The pastor is a man just like us and he has his own set of flaws.
We have to be accountable for our own walk. We have to find the mind of the Lord for ourselves and the pastor will merely confirm what God is saying.
This man is hurt but will be OK. He needs friends. I encouraged him to come back to church and make friends, get a support network and find God's mind.
Only God is good! He is the source and supply. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
