Excitement

1 Timothy 6:20-21 (MSG) ..... guard the treasure you were given! Guard it with your life. Avoid the talk-show religion and the practiced confusion of the so-called experts. People caught up in a lot of talk can miss the whole point of faith.
Excitement can lift us out of sensibility, while it is thoroughly enjoyable to be excited it is not a good place to live. If we stay too long we start to build another world made of lolly papers and sugar.
Being a woman I know excitement, but being older I know how to not let it infect my whole being. Being excited does not mean I am on the right path it just means I am excited.
In God, when He overshadows me with His goodness and I am blessed in someway I am overcome with gratitude, I prefer this feeling of thanks to any other because humility is there to keep me grounded.
I have a friend who is bi-polar and I watch the mania take over as he becomes excited, not a good look.
As a young person I found it easy to be excited. You would hear me say 'I'm so excited, this is so good.' Now I see warning lights.
My God's word is stable, steady and sure. He is the answer, he is the rock, the foundation. I can stand on the rock and not be moved.
Emotions are like a huge amount of hot air balloons, they are hard to contain and you are prone to lose a few. If you let them go they fly off into space. We can't live like that.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
