Pruning

Isaiah 18:5 (MSG) And then, just before harvest, after the blossom has turned into a maturing grape, He'll step in and prune back the new shoots, ruthlessly hack off all the growing branches.

Pruning is a biblical concept as well as a natural concept.

I garden and also enjoy pruning my bushes, especially roses as it encourages them to continue flowering. Once a year I heavily prune them, severely prune them because I know it is good for them.

As much as I don't like it God prunes me. As with any bush there is continually an accumulation of dead wood, especially after a successful flowering season. Dead wood has to go.

Dead wood may be something that was once a fruit in my life but now has to go as it has served its purpose.

People are a form of dead wood and as much as we like to hang onto certain relationships there are times when they and us have to separate, I am not referring to marriage by the way.

We must go where God is leading, not where our emotions are heading or our comfort dictates.

Let go and let God have His way. Amen!
