Building Character

2 Peter 1:5-9 (MSG)

So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding........  With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet.......without these qualities you can't see what's right before you....

So don't lose a minute building on what you have been given. What have I been given? Eternal life! Christ's spirit in my life.

Remember what Jesus said about the wise man building on solid stone? When the storms came his house stood.

Remember also what Jesus said about the master giving talents to his servants and then going away. When He returned He looked for a return on His investment. What if this is the same?

If, when we face Christ, we merely hand back our salvation what will He say? I think there were words like 'begon from me you wicked and slothful servant.' Ouch! 

I have been given the spirit of Christ so that I might bear fruit, that I might grow to spiritual maturity. It is not enough to hang on by the skin of my teeth and just make it through the door.

I am expected to preach the word 'in season and out of season', I am expected to grown in Christ, see my character develop.

Without character development I will not see what is right before my eyes, I will not understand the truth of the Kingdom.

It is time to strengthen the limbs that hang down and run the race before me. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
