Miracles and Generosity

Then fear came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Acts 2:43

'Then' is the operative word here. It refers to the passage before which states 'and they devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching, to the fellowship, to breaking of bread, and to prayers.'

Hunger for God produces miracles, God inhabits the praises of His people. When hungry people seek God, He is delighted and He comes.

The following verse says 'now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as everyone had a need.'

Generosity is another side benefit of the presence of God. When we are soaked in Him 'the things of the world grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace'. (song)

We cannot willfully replicate what happened in the above verses because then it is a man-made institution and what we read about was God inspired. We must let God decide what the manifestation of Himself will be, His Holy Spirit lives in us and inspires us.

As I plan for the retreat I am organising I am painfully aware that it is so God can meet His people and talk to them, I can't have an agenda other than this. One thing I know is that they are coming and so is He. Amen!
