Angels

Then Peter came to himself and said 'Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel and rescued me from Herod's grasp and from all that the Jewish people expected.' Acts 12:11

I love this scripture. Peter came to himself. We can experience such miracles that they seem unreal but in the light of day we must say 'surely the Lord has visited me.'

I have been visited by angels to encourage me and once to warn me, to save me from a bad decision. I didn't appreciate it at the time because my heart was set on doing what I wanted to do and it took me a while to accept the warning.

We are visited by angels bearing messages from our God many many times but because of our blindness or sin or both we do not see.

When I have the Holy Spirit residing inside of me and He speaks to me I wonder wonder why God would send an angel, perhaps I become dull to the voice of the Holy Spirit, perhaps to lend significance to what God is saying.

The bible is full of angelic visitations so it is not uncommon. I am grateful for all that my God gives me and I trust Him to speak to me the way He deems best. As I have said before he often uses people as well with a word of knowledge or wisdom.

I am grateful that the Lord saved Peter this way and it is written in the bible for me to read, it encourages me, shows me His greatness. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
