He is my Strength
Psalms 138:1-8 (MSG)
1 A David psalm Thank you! Everything in me says "Thank you!" Angels listen as I sing my thanks.
2 I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: "Thank you!" Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word.
3 The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength.
4 When they hear what you have to say, God, all earth's kings will say "Thank you."
5 They'll sing of what you've done: "How great the glory of God!"
6 And here's why: God, high above, sees far below; no matter the distance, he knows everything about us.
7 When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me.
8 Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal—don't quit on me now.
Do you ever have days of severe disappointment? They usually come in a time of struggle. Yesterday I had such a day. I have been battling a cold for over three weeks and endeavouring to establish my new business. I finally received my client listing to find that they were all over the state and not serviceable as planned.
The disappointment cut through to the core and all that I had had to endure came upon me, it seemed too much to contain.
I was talking to my mother and she reminded me 'if God be for me who can be against me.' She said in her darkest hour battling cancer that word saved her. I said 'mum I know this but I am feeling miserable.'
The word she spoke was what I needed. I had to stop feeling sorry for myself and praise the Lord.
Praising in distress is not easy but most necessary. My distress highlighted my having to do this alone and it hurt but I had to remember My God is for me, I just have to find His perspective and all will be well.
I am not battling cancer, starvation, beatings or abuse. It is well, it is well, it is well with my soul. Amen!
Lord finish what you started in me, God your love is eternal, don't quit on me now, be my strength. Amen!
