The Other Side

As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea. ..The people here were more open minded than those in Thessalonica, since they welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Consequently, many of them believed, including a number of prominent Greek women also as well as men. Acts17:10-12l

The Jews are not far behind Paul, and again will stir up trouble. This time Paul puts out to sea to escape.

What will Paul's report be? will he talk about the troublesome Jews or the fact that he had found open hearts.

Paul had shipwreck, stonings, assault of all kinds but he also had very good memories.

Some of the bad times can be so devastating that for a time we forget the good stuff.

Last night as I was going to bed I still felt lonely but again praised the Lord for all I did have. As I read the above scripture I thought of all the stories I have in my life.

I remember the time we, as a family, were almost shipwrecked. We had a little motor boat and decided to take the children out to sea at Umina Beach south of Gosford NSW. We launched out and were puttering around when suddenly there was an almighty noise, the back-end of the boat, along with the motor fell off into the sea. Fortunately the motor was still running and gave a little propulsion and we made it to shore but all sorts of drama could have unfolded, now it is extremely funny.

As  remembered the above I suddenly remembered all the dramas we had in cars, on motor bikes, rollerblades and I saw how funny there were. My good memories were back. I have had a life full of funny memories and now I cannot remember the bad. Praise God!

I am sure Paul could recount the funny side of all the opposition and having to escape in the dark of night. The thrill of the adventure would be upon him.

Each of us have had an adventure and I pray we can see the good through it all. Amen!
