Demons Go!

When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, tow demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. Suddenly they shouted, 'What do you have to do with us, Son of God? Have you come to torment us before the time?" Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs were feeding. "If you drive us out," the demons begged Him, "send us into the herd of pigs." "Go" he told them. Matthew 8:28-32

Jesus was secure in who He was. He faced something that would put most of us indoors. He was not frightened to face the demons. He had already faced their master and won.

We, each of us, face some demon in our own lives. Is it fear, addiction, anger, religiosity, bitterness, jealousy? They must go at a word, the word must come from a heart clean and full of authority. Jesus had authority because all of Him was submitted to His Father in heaven. Submission cleanses us, gives us authority.

The demons knew who He was, they recognised Him as the 'Son of God'. They also knew what was coming, He is going to cast them into a lake of fire at that final day. Their only purpose was to destroy and that is exactly what they had done to the men, to date, but then they destroyed the pigs.

I love to read about this Jesus. He had come to set men free and that is exactly what He did. He walked in His purpose. All I have to do is walk in my purpose and see God move. Jesus did what He saw His Father do, set men free. Amen!
